A modern-day tale of the search for fortune in the world of West Texas oil rigs. See the most popular movies and TV shows from writer/director Taylor Sheridan on IMDb, ranked by user rating.. A landman, at least one who works for an industrial oil company, will act as a go-between between exploration companies and landowners. Typically, the landowner’s job is to negotiate and finalize contracts with landowners with mineral rights to lease those rights to the company they represent. Like a foreman on a construction site, they build roads, worker housing (human camp), oversee the assembly of excavators, and the drilling of the site itself, especially in remote locations. They are also part fixer, problem solver, and facilitator. Watch CBS News Sunday Morning: Episode #44.24 (2022). It’s a TV formula, but from a writer who will be remembered decades from now, as Norman Lear is now. The difference here seems to be geography. This is another niche western show and it’s brilliant marketing along with some great performances from top notch actors. Oil industry accuracy issues? Obviously. Inadequacy of the mother-daughter-father-family dynamic? yes Does that mean nothing happens the same way in real life? No big deal, it’s a dynamic production and fun to watch. Thornton is slated for the role, although I’ve read it was written just for him to begin with. Larter is top notch and looks phenomenal. Lots of cool stuff, except for the one oddity that Demi Moore is in all 10 episodes. I’ve watched all 5 that have aired so far, and unless it’s just me, I only remember seeing and hearing her once or so, in her swimming pool for a brief moment. Hamm’s character isn’t seen that much either, but he plays it well and nails the character, but Moore just hasn’t been allowed to add anything so far. Maybe that’s how it’s written and she’ll play a role in future episodes. If not, then I’ll wonder what the deal is there.
